  • Yellow Foods: Boosting Health, Mood, and Digestion for a Better Life

    Published:2014/12/26 Buddhist Foods Views:1272

Yellow foods can promote the secretion of serotonin, which in turn produces a feeling of happiness and helps people embrace new challenges! These foods are also linked to the spleen and stomach, which nourish all the internal organs. The five internal organs depend on the nourishment of the spleen and stomach, making them the primary source of energy. Therefore, the saying “the spleen and stomach are the foundation of postnatal health” is absolutely true. Below are some yellow foods that not only benefit the spleen and stomach but also help improve appearance.

Chrysanthemum Tea: Reduces Eye Puffiness and Fatigue
Chrysanthemum tea is sweet in nature and cold in taste. It disperses wind-heat, calms the liver, and improves eyesight. It contains 17 kinds of amino acids, vitamins, and trace elements like iron, zinc, copper, and selenium. Additionally, chrysanthemum tea has a calming effect on the nerves, effectively reducing fatigue and improving sleep quality.

    Corn: A Healthful Whole Grain
Corn is a healthful whole grain, rich in vitamins, containing 5–10 times the amount of vitamins found in rice and flour. Its abundant calcium content is also beneficial for lowering blood pressure.

Bananas: Boosts Mood and Brings Happiness, Known as the “Happy Fruit”
Bananas harvested in spring have the best flavor. Europeans refer to them as the “happy fruit” because they help alleviate depression. Bananas are rich in phosphorus, protein, sugar, potassium, and vitamins A and C, and also contain a lot of fiber. The alkaloids in bananas can invigorate the body and boost confidence. Moreover, bananas are a source of tryptophan and vitamin B6, both of which help the brain produce serotonin.

Pumpkin: A Master of Digestive Health
Pumpkin is excellent for improving digestion. The pectin in pumpkins helps protect the gastrointestinal mucosa from rough food irritation, making it suitable for people with stomach issues. Additionally, the components in pumpkin aid in the digestion of food.

Sweet Potato: Strengthens the Spleen and Stomach, Boosts Vitality
Sweet potatoes help strengthen the spleen and stomach, improve energy, and aid digestion. They are ideal for people with weak spleen and stomach, fatigue, and poor appetite. However, excessive consumption may cause acid reflux, heartburn, and bloating.

Potato: Boosts Qi and Strengthens the Spleen
Tip: Potatoes are sweet in taste and neutral in nature. They are used to boost qi and strengthen the spleen, making them beneficial for those with weak constitutions, poor appetite, and digestive issues. Sprouted potatoes and their skins contain toxins, so they should be avoided.
