The American Buddhist Confederation held a New Year gathering on February 2, 2013, at the Jin Feng Grand Hotel in Manhattan, New York. Over 1,000 participants, including members from 41 affiliated temples and lay disciples from New York, Philadelphia, and New Jersey, attended the event.

During the gathering, the newly elected president of the American Buddhist Confederation, Venerable Ruifa, along with eight vice presidents, held their inauguration ceremony.

City council members presented the American Buddhist Confederation with a “Community Achievement Award”, and the Chinese Chamber of Commerce in New York awarded them a “Community Contribution Award.”

The evening banquet featured a variety of performances, including lion dances, Buddhist chant singing, and magic shows, which captivated the audience.
