Thus have I heard:<\/p>\n
On one occasion the Blessed One was living near Savatthi at Jetavana at Anathapindika’s monastery.<\/p>\n
Now when the night was far advanced, a certain deity, whose surpassing radiance illuminated the whole of Jetavana, approached the Blessed One.<\/p>\n
respectfully saluted him, and stood beside him.<\/p>\n
Standing thus, he addressed the Blessed One in verse:<\/p>\n
“Many deities and men longing for happiness have pondered on (the question of) blessings. Pray tell me what the highest blessings are.<\/p>\n
Not to associate with the foolish, but to associate with the wise, and to honor those worthy of honor \u2014 this is the highest blessing.<\/p>\n
To reside in a suitable locality, to have performed meritorious actions in the past, and to set oneself in the right direction \u2014 this is the highest blessing.<\/p>\n
Vast learning, skill in handicrafts, well grounded in discipline, and pleasant speech \u2014 this is the highest blessing.<\/p>\n
To support one’s father and mother; to cherish one’s wife and children, and to be engaged in peaceful occupations \u2014 this is the highest blessing.<\/p>\n
Liberality, righteous conduct, rendering assistance to relatives, and performance of blameless deeds \u2014 this is the highest blessing.<\/p>\n
To cease and abstain from evil, to abstain from intoxicating drinks, and diligent in performing righteous acts \u2014 this is the highest blessing.<\/p>\n
Reverence, humility, contentment, gratitude, and the timely hearing of the Dhamma, the teaching of the Buddha \u2014 this is the highest blessing.<\/p>\n
Patience, obedience, meeting the Samanas (holy men), and timely discussions on the Dhamma \u2014 this is the highest blessing.
\nSelf-control, chastity, comprehension of the Noble Truths, and the realization of Nibbana \u2014 this is the highest blessing.<\/p>\n
The mind that is not touched by the vicissitudes of life, [2] the mind that is free from sorrow, stainless, and secure \u2014 this is the highest blessing.<\/p>\n
Those who have fulfilled the conditions (for such blessings) are victorious everywhere, and attain happiness everywhere \u2014 To them these are the highest blessings.”<\/p>\n

\u591a\u95fb\u5de5\u827a\u7cbe\uff0c\u4e25\u6301\u8bf8\u7981\u6212\uff0c\u8a00\u8c08\u60a6\u4eba\u5fc3\uff0c\u662f\u4e3a\u6700\u5409\u7965\u3002<\/p>\n
\u5949\u517b\u7236\u6bcd\u4eb2\uff0c\u7231\u62a4\u59bb\u4e0e\u5b50\uff0c\u4ece\u4e1a\u8981\u65e0\u5bb3\uff0c\u662f\u4e3a\u6700\u5409\u7965\u3002<\/p>\n
\u5e03\u65bd\u597d\u54c1\u5fb7\uff0c\u5e2e\u52a9\u4f17\u4eb2\u7737\uff0c\u884c\u4e3a\u65e0\u7455\u75b5\uff0c\u662f\u4e3a\u6700\u5409\u7965\u3002<\/p>\n
